Will it work if I switch tabs?
Yes. The timer stores the exact end time and reads the clock, so it is correct whenever you look. Browsers slow hidden tabs down, so the countdown in the tab title may update only about once a minute while you are elsewhere. The chime is scheduled on the audio clock and normally plays on time on desktop; a locked phone may hold it until you return.
Does the timer keep going if I close the page?
If you reopen this page before it ends, the countdown picks up where it should be, because the end time is saved in your browser. It cannot chime while the page is closed.
